Volunteer Policy: [NRI Global]
Focus: Support, Guidance, and Advocacy for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
1. Introduction & Mission
The purpose of this policy is to define the relationship between [NRI Global] and our volunteers. Our mission is to provide a reliable support system for NRIs regarding legal, property, family, and emergency matters in India. Volunteers are the primary bridge between the organization and the global Indian diaspora.
2. Recruitment & Eligibility
- Equal Opportunity: We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, regardless of gender, religion, or caste, provided they share our commitment to helping the NRI community.
- Screening: Due to the sensitive nature of NRI issues (property/legal), all volunteers must undergo a background check and provide valid government ID (Aadhar/Passport).
- Onboarding: Every volunteer must complete an orientation session focused on NRI-specific laws and organizational protocols.
3. Roles & Responsibilities
Volunteers are expected to:
- Provide Guidance, Not Legal Advice: Unless professionally qualified and authorized, volunteers must provide general information only. They must not sign legal documents on behalf of the organization or the client.
- Act with Integrity: Represent the organization professionally in all interactions with embassies, local authorities, and NRI families.
- Documentation: Maintain clear logs of all assistance provided to ensure continuity of support.
4. Code of Conduct & Ethics
| Feature | Policy Requirement |
| No-Fee Policy | Volunteers must never demand or accept money, gifts, or commissions from NRIs for their services. |
| Conflict of Interest | Volunteers must disclose if they have a personal interest in any property or legal case they are handling. |
| Professionalism | Maintain a respectful tone and professional boundaries with all beneficiaries. |
| Neutrality | Treat all NRIs equally, regardless of their country of residence or economic status. |
5. Confidentiality & Data Protection (NDA)
NRIs often share sensitive data (Passport numbers, property titles, power of attorney).
- Volunteers must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
- No personal data of an NRI should be stored on private devices unless encrypted and authorized.
- Sharing client stories on social media without written consent is strictly prohibited.
6. Expenses & Reimbursement
- Voluntary Nature: Volunteering is unpaid. No salary or "wages" will be provided.
- Reimbursable Expenses: Pre-approved out-of-pocket expenses (e.g., travel to a local government office or courier charges) will be reimbursed upon submission of valid receipts.
7. Health, Safety & Liability
- The organization aims to provide a safe working environment.
- Liability: Volunteers are not employees. The organization is not liable for personal injuries sustained during voluntary activities unless caused by gross negligence of the organization.
- Volunteers are covered under the organization’s public liability insurance while performing official duties.
8. Disciplinary Process & Termination
- Resignation: Volunteers may leave at any time but are requested to give 7 days' notice to hand over ongoing cases.
- Dismissal: The organization reserves the right to terminate the volunteer relationship immediately in cases of breach of confidentiality, financial dishonesty, or misconduct.
